Residential Main Street
Do you want our Surf City Main Street to be safer and more ‘residential’?
What is Residential Main Street (RMS)?
Residential Main St. is the 1.0 mile stretch of Main St. extending from 17th St. to the downtown Huntington Beach Library. It’s home to almost 150 houses, 11 cross streets, 3 schools, 2 parks, a church and (almost) zero businesses. It’s used by all of us to walk our children to school, take our dogs to the park, bike downtown, go for a run, as well as 100s of other activities. By definition, it’s residential.

We Are Asking For:
The city of Huntington Beach to treat Residential Main St. as a true residential street and not a thoroughfare from Downtown to ‘Upper’ Commercial Main St.
Overall improvement in the safety and usability of Residential Main St.
A new roundabout at either Adams Ave. or 14th St. (to slow traffic coming into RMS from the North)
New roundabout at Palm Ave. (to slow traffic coming down Main St. as well as leaving Downtown)
A designated bike lane from Adams to Downtown
Improvements to the crosswalk between Lake and Farquhar Parks
Additional crosswalks along the length of RMS
The addition of stop signs at key locations along RMS
